Riga central market – Jew ghetto history – Soviet cultural heritage – junk shops –  Andrejsala port.

You can’t explore whole Riga in a day, but we’ll make the most of the time we have and will look deep into the heart of Riga. Still central part of it, but not so polished and touristy.

Our quickest route through Riga begins in the Central market, which is located in an old Zeppelin hangars and once was the biggest closed space marketplace in Europe.

It is like an entrance to one of the most diverse and historically complex suburb of riga, named after Russian capital Moscow. Once there, we’ll see Jewish ghetto, Soviet history monuments and the biggest wooden church in the Baltics. This district is the only place where you can find churches from 5 different confessions and lots of other historical evidence.

Moving forward, we’ll cross greeneries and parks of the city to the close center to listen to the real heartbeat of Riga. Eat ice cream, check out some junk stores and watch residents go by. We’ll dive a bit into the everyday Riga, leaving the usual tourist routes and looking behind the curtains.
